Important signs of gastritis that should not be avoided when you notice.

Gastritis is a medical condition that is caused by inflammation of the stomach lining due to many reasons like irritations and sometimes medications.

Inflammations of any organ or part of our body is the bodily reactions to micro organisms and infections. In the case of gastritis the major causative agents causing inflammations is the "Helicobactar pylori" also called H.pylori.

This gram negative bacteria are most times asymptomatic-show no symptoms at early stage, however they can many signs could help identify the disease condition.

But before we look at this symptoms and signs lets learn about the various predisposing factors of gastritis.

   Predisposing Factors Of Gastritis.

This factors includes all the habits and lifestyles that puts you at the risk of having gastritis.

  • Alcoholism.
  • High-salt diet.
  • High-fat diets.
  • Continuous drug consumption.
  • Smoking.
Now that we know some factors that exposes us to gastritis, lets look at the major causes of inflammations of the stomach lining.

      Major Causes of Gastritis.

  • Bacterial infections such as 'H.pylori Bacteria'.
  • Bile reflux-this is the back flow of bile from the bile tract into the stomach.
  • Long term consumption of Nonsteriodal anti-inflammatory drugs(NSAIDs).
  • Auto-immune diseases.
  • Other infections caused by pathogenic invasions.
  • Certain illness like kidney failure and hyper hyperthyroidism.

CLASSIFICATIONS OF GASTRITIS BASED ON DURATION OF INFECTION.

gastritis at early stage is mostly treated with some anti-biotics and dietary measures. But gastritis are of two types this is classified based on the time space and infection.

1. Acute Gastritis.
Acute gastritis usually a painful conditions lasting for a short duration of time. it can become chronic-long lasting if treatments are not given properly as it should. In worst cases it an result to internal bleeding and ulcers.

2. Chronic Gastritis.

Chronic gastritis usually long lasting, painless but persistent. This requires a steady treatments because chronic gastritis is a predisposing factors for stomach cancers.

Chronic gastritis is classified into various types according to their causes which includes the following:

  • Type A - This type is caused by auto-immune diseases- which means the self destruction of body cells by phagocytic cells in the body.it occurs when the body recognizes its own cells as antigens.
  • Type B - This type i caused by infection of the stomach walls by Helicobacter pylori. when this commensal bacteria multiplies excessively it can cause ulcers or lead to cancer.
  • Type C - This type is caused by mucousal irritations to the external epithelium lining of the stomach. Many times causes bleeding and pain in severe cases.

      SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF GASTRITIS.

There are various signs and symptoms that reveals itself during or after incubation period of H.pylori or gastritis. They vary from person to person this includes

  • Abdominal pain
  • Abdominal Bloating.
  • Loss of appetite.
  • Nauseous sensation.
  • Vomiting.
  • Indigestion, burning or hot sensation in upper region of stomach
  • Stomach upset.
  • Constipation.
  • Belching.
  • Weight loss.
  • Tarry or dark stools.
  • Hiccups.

Now that we know the signs and symptoms lest look at the ways Gastritis can be diagnosed in order to properly give effective treatments.

  METHODS OF DIAGNOSING GASTRITIS.

To test or diagnose gastritis its advised that you consult a doctor. let the doctor assess your general baseline data and assess your vital signs. History collection is also very important in diagnosis procedure. Then certain test would be conducted this includes:

1. Gastric endoscopy.

Here an endoscope is inserted through the mouth into the stomach to view and observe the lining of the stomach walls. they check for the presence of inflammations and injuries and many times biopsy is done, collecting sample if the stomach tissues and conducting tests on them.

2. Stool Test.

In stool test a sample of the stool is collected, cultured and observed. excess of stomach intestinal juice and blood in stool is  possible symptom of gastritis.

3. Blood Tests.

Blood samples are collected and tested for the presence of 'H.pylori' bacteria or low blood cell count resulting to anemia.

      TREATMENTS OF GASTRITIS.

Gastritis can be treated and managed in various ways some of which we would be pointing out today.

1. Medications.

Medications like antacids are given. This reduces the actions of Gastric activities within the stomach walls. They do this by producing an anti-effects thereby reducing acidity.

Most of this drugs are H₂ antagonists, proton pump inhibitors and contains calcium carbonate. Examples of these drugs includes:

  • Zantac
  • omeprazole.

Antibiotics are also prescribed most times for infections and inflammations.

2. Dietary precautions.

Patients suffering gastritis are medically advised to cut down foods containing high salt and oil levels for anemic patients foods containing high portions of vitamin B₁₂ is recommended.  Mostly recommended foods includes:

  • All fruits but less of acidic fruits like orange and lemons.
  • Vegetables.
  • Whole grains and pastas
  • Lean meat like turkey.

PROGNOSIS.
The prognosis here simply is that consistency in taking medications and maintaining strict dietary measure would definitely relieve and cure gastritis in matter of time. So go ahead and try this see wonders!!!!
